The Braves had won seven of ten before nothing went as planned in a 11-3 defeat at Miller Park on Thursday afternoon. Bravos starter Roberto Hernandez was charged with five runs on seven hits including three long balls over four frames while three relievers allowed five runs. Atlanta posted nine hits and walked four times with Erick Aybar going 3-5 with a solo blast while Freddie Freeman drove in a run and scored. Mike Foltynewicz gets the ball Friday for his first career start versus the Nationals. Foltynewicz shoots for back to back wins after defeating St. Louis 6-3 with a run scored over six innings.

The Washington Nationals know they are heading towards the National League East title and just need to avoid collapsing. The Nationals took another step forward in a 7-4 win versus Cleveland Sunday with the offense coming up big. Nats starter Gio Gonzalez improved to 8-9 with all four runs allowed over five innings with five relievers putting up zeros. Washington pounded out eleven hits with Jason Werth going 2-3 with a homer, three RBI’s and three runs while Anthony Rendon went 2-4 and drove in two. Washington sends Stephen Strasburg to the hill Friday to oppose the Braves for the third time in 2016. Strasburg comes off of a 7-1 loss to San Francisco with four runs allowed on eight hits in 4.2 frames.
