The Toronto Blue Jays look to extend their lead in the East with the Houston Astros in town.
The Houston Astros are trying to stay in the postseason conversation and need to stay hot. The Astros remained hot with a 5-2 win at the Rogers Centre on Friday where both the arms and bats contributed. Stros starter Joe Musgove picked up the win with both runs allowed over seven frames while whiffing seven. Houston pounded out 12 hits and walked five times with Teoscar Hernandez going deep and scoring twice while Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa drove in two runs apiece. Collin McHugh toes the rubber Saturday against the Blue Jays hoping to snap a two game skid. McHugh has dropped consecutive 3-1 decisions with all six runs allowed on 13 hits over 13 innings.

The Toronto Blue Jays technically lead the American League East but it’s really a tie with the Orioles. The Blue Jays missed out on a chance to add to their lead with their arms and bats struggling. Jays starter Francisco Liriano was charged with five runs on eight hits and a pair of BB through 5.2 innings. Toronto mustered seven hits and walked once with Edwin Encarnacion and Michael Saunders slamming solo home runs. The Blue Jays are slated to start Aaron Sanchez in game two of their series with Houston. Sanchez was hit hard in a 4-2 loss at Kansas City with all four runs given up on nine hits in six frames.
Houston are 7-19 in their last 26 games on astroturf and the under is 7-3-1 in McHugh’s last 11 starts overall. The under is 9-2 in Toronto’s last 11 overall and the over is 6-2 in their last 8 on astroturf while going 6-2 in their last 8 home games. This looks like an opportunity for the Blue Jays and they can’t afford to waste it…
