The Pittsburgh Pirates stay on the west coast to open a series with the San Francisco Giants.
The Pittsburgh Pirates are desperate for wins if they want to make a run at one of the Wild Card’s. The Pirates dominated the Dodgers 11-3 with great efforts on the mound and at the plate. Pitt starter Chad Kuhl gave up a pair of runs on six hits over six frame to easily pick up the victory. The Buccos amassed 16 hits and five walks with Jordy Mercer, Jung Ho Kang and Sean Rodriguez going deep and driving in seven while Josh Harrison drove in two and scored twice. Ryan Vogelsong looks to continue his torrid start to the season when he faces Pittsburgh. In four starts, Vogelsong has gone 1-2 with a 1.19 WHIP and 2.67 ERA over 33.2 innings.

The San Francisco Giants ate playing .500 baseball the past few weeks and would like to get hot and lock up the division. Getting hot will have to wait another day as the Giants blew a 7-1 lead on the way to an 8-7 loss to visiting Baltimore on Sunday. SF starter Johnny Cueto gave up three runs over 6.2 innings before Hunter Strickland gave up a pair with Santiago Cassila allowed three in the 9th to absorb the loss. San Francisco pounded out 14 hits and walked four times with Hunter Pence going solo with Trevor going 3-5 with three RBI’s while Brandon Belt drove in a run and scored. Left hander Matt Moore makes his third start for San Francisco and first ever start versus Pittsburgh. With the Giants, Moore is 0-1 with a 1.42 WHIP and a three ERA in 12 frames.
Pittsburgh are 3-9 in their last 12 road games and the under is 9-3 in their last 12 road games while going 9-4 in Vogelsong’s last 13 road starts. The under is 6-2-1 in San Francisco’s last 9 overall 6-2-1 in SF last 9 on grass. I think the Giants have the edge but I can’t advise a bet on them and would not lay juice on them…
