Headed our way Tuesday from Wrigley Field, we’ve got game one action between the Milwaukee Brewers and the Chicago Cubs.
The Brewers are coming off a three-game set against the Reds this weekend. Milwaukee dropped the first two games before coming back to take Sunday’s match-up 7-3.

As for the Cubs, they played a long set against the Cardinals in their last appearance. Chicago won the first two games and dropped the second pair for a split series.
For Tuesday’s game, the Brewers will be bringing out RHP Matt Garza to the mound. In his 11 games and 4-4 record this year, Garza owns a 4.83 ERA and a 1.54 WHIP in 59.2 innings of work. In his last appearance, Garza bagged a win with six innings, two runs and seven hits against the Braves.
The Brewers have some firepower when it comes to hitting this year. Jonathan Villar has put up 128 hits with 63 runs and 41 RBI so far. Ryan Braun sits on 120 hits with 61 runs, 22 homers and 65 RBI. Jonathan Lucroy has hit 101 times with 48 runs and 50 RBI.
Over on the Cubs’ side, we’ll be seeing RHP Trevor Cahill on Tuesday. This will be Cahill’s first appearance on the mound since July 8, as he’s been sidelined due to patellar tendinitis. In 33 games and a 1-3 record so far, Cahill owns a 3.07 ERA with a 1.39 WHIP in 41 innings.
Chicago isn’t hurting for hitters, either. Kris Bryant has logged 126 hits with 90 runs, 28 homers and 72 RBI. Anthony Rizzo holds 121 hits with 71 runs, 25 homers and 85 RBI. Ben Zobrist is sitting on 107 hits wth 69 runs and 58 RBI so far.
The Brewers are 8-20 in their last 28 road games, and 4-0 in Garza’s last four starts. Milwaukee is also 1-6 in Garza’s last seven road starts, and 2-7 in Garza’s last nine Tuesday starts.
As for the Cubs, they’re 5-0 in their last five games following an off day, and 21-8 in their last 29 overall. Chicago is also 66-29 in their last 95 home games and 37-18 in their last 55 Tuesday games.
With Cahill coming out rusty and a sharp Garza on the mound, I like the Brewers here.
