The Texas Rangers will look to ride a big night out of Adrian Beltre last night into Tuesday when they host the Oakland Athletics.
The Athletics have had a rough stretch over the last couple of seasons and will need some of their prized prospects to step up soon if they are going to play their way back into the playoff picture. The A’s have made some tough trades over the last couple of seasons and it must sting even more to see some of their former pieces enjoying so much success but that is the nature of the beast with a team like Oakland that is still operating under the Moneyball mentality through Billy Beane. Oakland is 52-66 this season and have 17 fewer wins than their opponents tonight but to be fair they have actually scraped together some impressive wins and are further along than some other teams in the American League and should be able to draw some decent free agents in the offseason.

The Rangers meanwhile are in a win now mode and have the roster to win the AL pennant as they are loaded in the lineup and have a rock solid rotation led by Cole Hamels. The Rangers are coming off a tough loss in last year’s ALDS against the Toronto Blue Jays and with a potential first round rematch in the cards between those two bitter rivals you can be sure than the postseason will be filled with fireworks and that every victory for the rest of the season is critically important. The Rangers will send Lucas Harrell to the mound who is 3-2 with a 4.20 ERA and he will match up with Andrew Triggs who is 0-1 with a 5.50 mark.
The A’s are 5-11 in their last 16 overall, 1-5 in their last six road games, and 5-2 in their last seven Tuesday games while the Rangers are 16-7 in their last 23 Tuesday games, 7-1 in their last eight against a team with a losing record and 42-20 in their last 62 home games. The Rangers are the better team and need the win and they should have no issues getting it done at home in this one.
