Taking the mound for the Dodgers on Wednesday will be lefty Scott Kazmir. In his 23 games with a 9-6 record, Kazmir owns a 4.44 ERA with a 1.28 WHIP in 127.2 innings. In a loss to the Phillies his last time out, Kazmir logged four hits and two runs in six innings.
LA has some noteworthy hitters at the plate. Corey Seager has logged 142 hits with 75 runs, 21 homers and 56 RBI. Adrian Gonzalez sits on 123 hits with 51 runs and 57 RBI. Howie Kendrick has managed 102 hits with 53 runs and 34 RBI.
Over on the Phillies’ side, we’ll be seeing Jake Thompson in Wednesday’s game. In two games with a 1-1 record this year, Thompson has managed an 8.68 ERA with a 1.50 WHIP in 9.1 innings. Thompson got his first major-league win his last time out against the Rockies, going five with two hits and three earned.
Philly has a few notable batters to work with as well. Odubel Herrera sits on 124 hits with 41 RBI and 64 runs. Christian Hernandez has put up 117 hits with 47 runs and 29 RBI. Maikel Franco has 106 hits with 50 runs, 21 homers and 69 RBI.
The Dodgers are 0-6 in their last six Wednesday games, and 4-1 in Kazmir’s last five road starts. Los Angeles is also 5-2 in Kazmir’s last seven starts in game two of a series, and 5-0 in Kazmir’s last five starts following a quality start in his last appearance.
As for the Phillies, they’re 5-1 in their last six Wednesday games, and 2-6 in their last eight game twos of a series. Philadelphia is also 4-1 in their last five against the NL West and 4-1 in their last five overall.
I think Kazmir will come out throwing here, so I’ll take the Dodgers to get a big victory.
