The Boston Red Sox collide with the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park on Thursday.
The surging Boston Red Sox are staying in the hunt for the American League East lead with both the arms and bats contributing. That trend continued as the Red Sox picked up their 6th consecutive victory in a weather shortened 8-1 win at Baltimore. Boston starter David Price got the win with a run allowed over six frames. The Red Sox hammered out 13 hits and walked twice with Sandy Leon going deep and driving in two while Jackie Bradley Jr. went deep and knocked in fou while scoring twice. Clay Buchholz gets the ball Thursday against the dangerous Tigers. Buchholz defeated the Diamondbacks 6-3 last time out (ND) with all three runs plated over 4.1 innings.

The Detroit Tigers have been in a bit of a funk the past few weeks which has them looking at the Wild Card instead of the AL Central crown. The Tigers have dropped eight of eleven with the bats and late inning relief doing them in. Detroit starter Anibal Sanchez tossed a one hit shutout over seven frames before Justin Wilson and Shane Green gave up four runs in a 4-1 defeat. The Tigers were held to six hits and a pair of BB with Victor Martinez connecting on his 22nd long ball. The Tigers send Matt Boyd to the hill to face the Red Sox for the second time in his career. Boyd comes off of a 2-0 victory at Texas where he tossed a three hitter over seven scoreless frames.
The under is 14-3 in Boston’s last 17 road games and is 14-6 in their last 20 overall while going 14-6 in their last 20 on grass. Detroit are 2-7 in their last 9 overall and are 2-7 in their last 9 games on grass while the over is 9-4-1 in their last 14 Thursday games. The over is 8-1-3 in the last 12 meetings in Detroit.
