Coming up on Friday in MLB activity, the St. Louis Cardinals will be heading to Citizens Bank Park to visit the Philadelphia Phillies.
The Cardinals are fresh off a set against the Astros. St. Louis won both of those games and has now taken four in a row.

As for the Phillies, they just finished up against the Dodgers. Philly lost the first two games of that series, then on Thursday Philadelphia prevented the sweep by eking out a 5-4 win.
Pitching for St. Louis on Friday will be right-hander Adam Wainwright. In 24 starts with a 9-7 record this year, Wainwright owns a 4.72 ERA with a 1.37 WHIP in 145 innings. In his last start, Wainwright got shelled for seven runs with six hits in just two innings.
The Cardinals have a few key hitters on their roster. Stephen Piscotty has hit 120 times with 67 runs, 17 homers and 67 RBI. Yadier Molina holds 112 hits with 40 runs and 38 RBI. Aldemys Diaz has hit 110 times with 64 runs and 57 RBI.
Over on the other side, we’ll be seeing lefty Adam Morgan on the hill for the Phillies. In his 13 starts and 1-7 record so far, Morgan owns a 6.62 ERA with a 1.62 WHIP in 69.1 innings. Morgan left his last start against the Rockies due to a forearm injury, but should be good to go here.
The Phillies have some key bats as well. Odubel Herrera has logged 127 hits with 65 runs and 42 RBI. Cesar Hernandez has hit 119 times with 29 RBI and 47 runs. Maikel Franco holds 107 hits with 21 homers and 69 RBI with 51 runs.
The Cardinals are 4-0 in their last four road games, and 7-2 in their last nine game ones of a series. St. Louis is also 41-20 in Wainwright’s last 61 starts and 2-7 in Wainwright’s last nine Friday starts.
Meanwhile, the Phillies are 6-2 in their last eight game ones of a series, and 5-2 in their last seven Friday games. Philadelphia is also 3-13 in Morgan’s last 16 starts and 1-5 in Morgan’s last six home starts.
The Cardinals are the obvious pick here, so I’m going with St. Louis to get the opener victory.
