Coming up Friday from Tropicana Field, the Texas Rangers and the Tampa Bay Rays will be hitting the MLB diamond.
The Rangers are coming off a three-game set with the Athletics, winning all three by a combined 16-8 score.

As for the Rays, they played the Padres, winning all three of their games as well. Tampa has now won four in a row overall.
Taking the hill for Texas on Friday will be lefty Cole Hamels. In his 24 games and 12-4 record this year, Hamels owns a 2.88 ERA With a 1.30 WHIP in 153.1 innings. In his last start against the Tigers, Hamels took a loss with seven innings, 14 hits and two earned.
Texas has a few bright spots in their batting order. Ian Desmond leads the team on 141 hits with 85 runs and 73 RBI with 20 homers. Rougned Odor has put up 127 hits with 71 runs, 22 homers and 61 RBI. Adrian Beltre holds 126 hits with 60 runs, 19 homers and 77 RBI.
On the other side, the Rays will be bringing out RHP Matt Andriese on Friday. Andriese has a 6-4 record through 21 games (11 starts) with a 3.36 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP. In his last start, Andriese took a loss to the Yankees with eight hits and six earned in five innings.
The Rays have a few notable hitters as well. Evan Longoria holds 134 hits with 63 runs, 27 homers and 72 RBI. Brad Miller has hit 106 times with 58 runs, 25 homers and 57 RBI. Logan Forsythe has hit 100 times with 58 runs and 38 RBI so far.
The Rangers are 9-3 in their last 12 overall, and 5-2 in their last seven game ones of a series. Texas is also 0-4 in their last four games following an off day and 5-1 in Hamels’ last six Friday starts.
Meanwhile, the Rays are 4-0 in their last four overall and 4-1 in their last five home games. Tampa Bay is also 0-4 in Andriese’s last four starts, and 8-21 in their last 29 Friday games.
I like Hamels in the pitching matchup here, so I’ll go with the Rangers for the victory.
