The New York Mets travel to Busch Stadium to take the field with the St. Louis Cardinals.
The New York Mets are right at .500 on the season and unless they don’t begin winning soon their postseason hopes will be gone. The Mets have won back to back games following a 2-0 victory at San Francisco on Sunday. NYM starter Noah Syndergaard was at his best with two hits given up over eight scoreless frames to improve to 11-7 while Jeurys Familia recorded his 41st save. The Mets were held to four hits with Yoenis Cespedes clubbing a two run homer. Left hander Jonathan Niece looks to snap a two game skid when he faces the Cardinals on Tuesday. On the year, Niese has gone 8-7 in 19 starts with a 1.57 WHIP and 5.30 ERA.

The St. Louis Cardinals are starting to look like a playoff ;team with wins in seven of ten after dominating Philadelphia 9-0 on the road Sunday. The Cardinals could do no wrong with starter Mike Leake allowing seven hits and striking out eight through seven innings to up his record to 9-9. The Cards pounded out 13 hits and walked twice but roe the long balls of Jeremy Hazelbaker ,Brandon Moss, Stephen Piscotty and Jedd Gyorko and their seven RBI’s. St. Louis is scheduled to send Jaime Garcia to the bump to oppose the Mets for the second time in 2016. Garcia is coming off an 8-5 win at Houston with all five runs plated on seven hits including three homers in five frames.
The under is 9-3 in the Mets last 12 Tuesday games and are 7-1 in Niese’s last 8 road starts and the over is 7-1 in Niese’s last 8 starts on grass. The over is 6-2 in the Cardinals last 8 overall and is 6-2 in their last 8 on grass while the under is 19-5-2 in Garcia’s last 26 home starts. The under is 16-5-1 in the last 22 meetings. The hotter team is what I’m thinking…
