The Detroit Tigers look to stay on the Wild Card race with a win at the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday.
The Detroit Tigers are in the Wild Card chase but have been fading a bit lately with defeats in five of seven before getting an 8-3 victory at Target Field. Tigers starter continued to throw well with all three runs plated on six hits over seven frames to improve to 7-12. Detroit pounded out 14 hits and walked four times with Erick Aybar and Victor Martinex going deep with five RBI’s and foir runs while Cameron Maybin drove in three. The Tigers hand the ball to Matt Boyd for his second start of the year against Minnesota. Boyd has been outstanding the past two times out with one run allowed on seven hits in 13 innings.

The Minnesota Twins only goal is to finish the season strong and beat as many playoff hopefuls as possible. The Twins are in the midst of a four game slide following Tuesday’s defeat where nothing went favorably. Twins starter Kyle Gibson fell to 5-8 with five runs scoring on seven hits and four BB with Michael Tonkin giving up three on a pair of long balls. Minnesota mustered six hits with Brian Dozier going solo and scoring twice while Jorge Polanco knocked in a run and scored. Tyler Duffey toes the rubber against the rival Tigers for the second time this year. Duffey dropped an 8-1 decision to Kansas City with five runs plated on two hits and three walks over 3.2 frames.
