The red hot Kansas City Royals look to continue their surge on the road as they take on the Boston Red Sox at Fenway on Saturday.
The Royals have been on an absolute tear of late having won nine of their last 10 games and have played their way back into the playoff picture in the American League and with a pivotal set against the BoSox in Boston this weekend they have a great chance at making up some serious ground in the wild card hunt. Kansas City was left for dead a month ago and even a few weeks back they were considered an afterthought but thanks to this run they are on they are within striking distance and could very well land a spot back in the playoffs and give themselves at least a shot at properly defending their crown. Danny Duffy, who has been remarkable this season, gets the call on the hill in this one as he will go up against David Price who has been excellent of late in what should be a very exciting game.

The Red Sox spoiled an opportunity to potentially take over top spot in the AL East last night and ultimately their 6-3 loss combined with Toronto’s 15-8 win has the Jays a game up in the dog fight and now the Sox have to play catch up against a much tougher opponent. Boston has a ton of weapons at the dish and can put up runs in bunches and also have been pretty solid on the mound over the last few weeks despite being criticized for having no rotation, but when you have a guy like Price who is among the league’s best and a support in Rick Porcello who has been outstanding it is tough to turn your nose up at the Red Sox arms who can certainly hold their own.
The Royals are 6-1 in their last seven road games, 15-3 in their last 18 games overall, and 10-1 in Duffy’s last 11 in which he tossed a quality start the game before while the Red Sox are 8-2 in their last 10, 5-1 in their last six against a lefty, and 1-4 in their last five at home against a team with a winning record. This is going to be a great game between two desperate teams itching for a victory and while the odds are with the Royals who are playing lights out ball right now I have to give the slight edge to the Red Sox who to me have the better team overall with their ace on the mound and are playing at home.
