The Seattle Mariners look for a win at U.S. Cellular Field versus the Chicago White Sox.
The Seattle Mariners are postseason hopefuls but have hit a bit of a skid this past week. Those hopes are still alive as the Mariners have won five of six after squeezing by the White Sox 3-1 Friday. M’s starter Felix Hernandez gave up the lone run on eight hits and a pair of free passes over 7.1 frames. Seattle mustered five hits with Franklin Guiterrez going deep while Adam Lind and doubled in a run. The Mariners hand the ball to rookie Ariel Miranda for his 4th career start on Saturday. In three starts Miranda has gone 0-0 with a 1.26 WHIP and 4.32 ERA over 16.2 innings.

The Chicago White Sox have gone a little spurt but their postseason hopes are not likely. The White Sox had won four of five before the offense struggled in Friday’s defeat. In the process a great effort on the mound went for naught as CWS ace Chris Sale gave up all three runs on five hits while striking out 14 in a complete game performance. Chicago managed eight hits and walked twice with Todd Frazier going 2-3 with a solo jack. Left hander Jose Quintana looks to continue his solid work on the mound when he faces Seattle Saturday. On the season, Quintana is 10-9 with a 1.12 WHIP and 2.84 ERA.
The over is 6-2 in Seattle’s last 8 overall and is 6-2 in their last 8 on grass while going 9-4 in their last 13 road games. The under is 20-5-1 in Quintana’s last 26 on grass and the under is 12-4-2 in Quintana’s last 18 Saturday starts while the White Sox are 5-12 in Quintana’s last 17 Sat. starts. Seattle are 13-41 in the last 54 meetings in Chicago and are 16-36 in the last 52 meetings. Seattle is tough and this is no guarantee especially if Chicago doesn’t support Quintana…
