The Los Angeles Angels are in a position to be spoilers as they have been out of the American League West race for awhile. The Angels had a chance to be spoilers Friday but just didn’t have enough pitching or hitting in a 4-2 loss at Detroit. LAA starter Ricky Nolasco was charged with all four runs on nine hits and three BB over 6.1 frames. Los Angeles was held to four hits and three BB with Albert Pujols going solo while Kole Calhoun drove in Kaleb Cowart. Jhoulys Chachin toes the rubber against the Tigers for the second time on the year. Chacin defeated the Yankees 2-0 last time out with six hits allowed over 5.2 innings of work.

The Detroit Tigers are on a little bit of run and need to stay that way to remain a postseason contender. The Tigers run extended to five games following Friday night’s victory behind a great performance on the mound from Justin Verlander. Verlander gave up both runs on four hit while striking out eight through 7.2 innings. Detroit totaled nine hits and three walks with Cameron Maybin going deep while Justin Upton homered and drove in two. Rookie Michael Fulmer will be on the mound hoping to rebound from his worse start of the season. Fulmer dropped a 10-2 decision to Boston with six runs plated on ten hits in 5.2 frames.
The Angels are 3-14 in their last 17 games on grass and are 5-15 in their last 20 overall while going 11-27 in their last 38 road games. Detroit are 2-6 in their last 8 home games and the under is 5-2-1 in their last 8 home games while the Tigers are 15-3 in Fulmer’s last 18 starts. The Angels are 21-5 in the last 26 meetings.I like Fulmer and look for him to bounce back…
