The Pittsburgh Pirates look to keep their playoff hopes alive with a win at the Milwaukee Brewers Saturday.
The Pittsburgh Pirates have reached the point where every single loss is crucial. The Pirates took a step in the right direction with a 5-3 victory at Miller Park Friday. Buccos starter Ryan Vogelsong allowed two runs on four hits and for BB over 5.1 frames to get the win while five relievers gave up a run. Pitt produced seven hits and four walks with Jordy Mercer doing most of the damage with a grand slam. The Pirates have scheduled Jameson Taillon to be on the hill to oppose the Brewers for the third time this year. Taillon comes off a 3-1 loss to the Astros with two runs scoring over eight innings.

The Milwaukee Brewers have been playing well which is bad news for the playoff hopeful teams on their schedule. The Brewers chance to be a spoiler went by the wayside when starter Matt Garza was charged with five runs on five hits and three BB. The Brew Crew totaled seven hits and seven walks with Orlando Arcia providing all the offense with a three run jack in the 6th. Right hander Jimmy Nelson shoots for back to back wins when he faces the Pirates Saturday. Nelson defeated Colorado 4-2 last time out with both runs allowed in seven frames.
The under is 20-7 in Pittsburgh’s last 27 Saturday games and the Pirates are 7-2 in Taillon’s last 9 starts while going 7-2 in Taillon’s last 9 starts on grass. The over is 20-6-2 in Milwaukee’s last 28 Saturday games while the under is 7-1-2 in Nelson’s last 10 home starts. I never get Nelson right so word of warning…
