The Chicago Cubs conclude their road trip to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday.
The Chicago Cubs seem to be in cruise control with the wins rolling in but they know the National League Central is not wrapped up yet. The surging Cubs had won eight of ten before having trouble at the plate in a 3-1 defeat at the Dodgers Saturday. Cubbies starter Jason Hammel was charged with all three runs on five hits over 2.1 frames to absorb the loss. Chicago logged eight hits and four walks with Anthony Rizzo and Jason Heyward driving in runs. Left hander John Lester gets the start in the final game of the series versus the Dodgers. Lester has won back to back games with two runs allowed on eight hits over 12.2 innings.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are clinging to the lead in the National League West and need wins to fend off the Giants. The Dodgers picked up a much needed win Saturday and also ended a two game skid behind a solid performance on the mound. LAD starter Julio Urias allowed a run through six innings and stuck our eight while four relievers gave up an unearned run. Los Angeles posted six hits with Corey Seager clubbing a solo homer while Chase Utley drove in and scored. The Dodgers hand the ball to rookie Brock Stewart against the dangerous Cups. Stewart is 0-2 and has allowed 14 runs on 16 hits including five homers in nine frames.
The Cubs are 23-5 in their last 28 overall and are 23-5 in their last 28 games on grass while the over is 9-2 in their last 11 Sunday games. The over is 12-4-2 in the Dodgers last 18 overall and is 12-4-2 in their last 18 on grass while going 8-3 in their last 11 home games. The under is 10-2 in the last 12 meetings. I’ll back the red hot Cubs here…
