The Pittsburgh Pirates look to stay red hot and build on their win yesterday as they continue their weekend set on Sunday against the Milwaukee Brewers.
The Pirates are heating up at the right time as they look to close the gap on the rest of the pack in the National League wild card race and after pasting the Brewers last night they have improved to 7-0 in their last seven road games and will be out for more here with Ivan Nova on the hill. Pittsburgh is trending upwards and if they can get into the playoffs they could be a tough team to slow down as they have a pretty solid lineup top to bottom and a serviceable rotation that is capable of throwing a big game on any night of the week but they will have to beta out some great baseball teams that are vying for only two spots in the NL wild card race. Nova is 10-6 with a 4.55 ERA this season and he will go up against Chase Anderson who is 7-10 with a 4.99 ERA but is expected to be one of a core group of pitchers leading the way for the Brewers in the years to come.

The Brewers haven’t had a great season and are playing out the string at this point but they would love to send one of their division rivals to a loss on Sunday as they take on a desperate Pirates side. Milwaukee had been a team on the rise over the last couple of seasons but they have fallen on hard times since the Ryan Braun suspension a few years back and while the former MVP is having himself another solid season the supporting cast isn’t there this year and they will be in tough for the next few years. Milwaukee is a modest 4-9 in their last 13 overall and are in tough against the Bucs who are playing some of their best baseball of the season and as such the Pirates are road favourites once again.
The Pirates are 4-0 in Nova’s last four starts, 5-2 in their last seven games following a win and 4-1 in their last five against a righty while the Brewers are 3-7 in their last 10 Sunday games, 2-5 in their last seven home games against a righty, and 3-8 in their last 11 after allowing five runs or more in their previous outing. Pittsburgh is playing very well right now and that continues here with Nova on the hill against Anderson.
