Pitching for the Marlins in this one will be RHP Tom Koehler. In his 26 starts and 9-9 record this year, Koehler has put up a 3.85 ERA with a 1.39 WHIP in 145 innings. Koehler took a loss his last time out with six innings, seven hits and four runs against the Royals.
Miami has some great hitters on their roster. Martin Prado has hit 159 times with 59 runs and 61 RBI. Christian Yelich holds 143 hits with 66 runs and 76 RBI. Marcel Ozuna has hit 130 times with 64 runs 22 homers and 67 RBI.
Over on the Mets side we’ll be seeing RHP Seth Lugo on the mound. In his 11 games (two starts) and 1-2 record this year, Lugo owns a 2.51 ERA With a 1.01 WHIP in 28.2 innings. Lugo got a win his last time out against the Cardinals, going five innings with two hits and no earned.
The Mets aren’t too shabby at the plate, either. Neil Walker has blasted 116 hits with 23 homers, 57 runs and 55 RBI. Asdrubal Cabrera holds 113 hits with 48 runs and 43 RBI. Yoenis Cespedes has hit 107 times with 55 runs, 26 homers and 67 RBI.
The Marlins are 4-0 in Koehler’s last four with four day’s rest, and 4-1 in Koehler’s last five Tuesday starts. Miami is also 5-2 in Koehler’s last seven starts overall, and 5-2 in Koehler’s last seven starts on grass.
Meanwhile, the Mets are 4-1 in their last five Tuesday games, and 5-1 in their last six home games. New York is also 7-2 in their last nine overall, and 7-2 in their last nine on grass.
This should be a pretty close game, but I like Koehler in the pitching matchup so I’ll take the Marlins.
