The Line: Milwaukee Brewers +132 / St. Louis Cardinals -142 --- Over/Under: 9 See the Latest Odds
The St. Louis Cardinals scored a big road win against the Milwaukee Brewers last night and they will look for an encore on Wednesday at Miller Park.
The Cardinals look to continue their success on the road of late as they take to the field on Wednesday against the Brewers and with another victory here they will put themselves in a nice spot in the NL wild card hunt as the season draws near a close. St. Louis continues to be competitive year in and year out and despite not having the roster we have grown accustomed to seeing from them they always seem to find ways to win and this season is no different as they are right in the mix in the National League and you can be sure that teams will want to avoid them if they do get into the postseason. The Cards will send Luke Weaver to the mound in this one as he is 1-1 with a 3.60 ERA and he will match up with Matt Garza who is 4-6 with a 4.89 ERA and has struggled for the Brewers who are well back of the postseason at this point in the season.
USA TODAY Sports
The Brewers have dropped five games in a row and are woeful during game three of a series this season and while Garza has shown flashes of brilliance this season and the team has played well in his last seven starts so they could surprise here. Milwaukee is looking towards the future as they sold off some assets at the trade deadline and while Ryan Braun looks to be a part of the plan moving forward it’ll be interesting to see if they move him in the offseason, though a suitor may be tough to come by. Milwaukee is 0-5 in their last five games against a team with a winning record and with the Cards fitting that bill it is safe to assume the trend will continue here.
St. Louis is 7-0 in their last seven Wednesday games, 7-1 in their last eight road games, and 20-9 in their last 29 against the NL Central while the Brewers are 4-1 in Garza’s last five home starts, 0-5 in their last five home starts against a righty, and 16-37 in their last 53 against a team with a winning record. This is the Cards’ game to lose as they have the upper hand in all facets and we are banking on them getting another win here.
