The Cincinnati Reds butt heads with the St. Louis Cardinals at Great American Ball Park Saturday.
The St. Louis Cardinals are in a tight race for the Wild Card and a skid of any length would be a killer. The Cardinals took a step back in a 3-2 defeat at Great American Ball Park Friday. Rookie Alex Reyes tossed a gem with two runs plated over six frames before Seung Hwan Oh gave up a walk off run in the 9th to absorb the loss. The Cards did their damage on six hits and a pair of free passes with Yadier Molina and Randal Grichuk smacking solo homers. Left hander Jaime Garcia hopes to right the ship when he faces Cincinnati for the third time in 2016. Garcia has struggled the last three times out with a 1-2 record an 9.00 ERA.

The Cincinnati Reds have been slumping the past few weeks with the offense being a major concern. The Reds offense struggled once again Friday night but their pitching came to the rescue. Cinci starter Anthony DeSclafani allowed both runs on solo jacks through seven innings for a no decision with two relievers tossing scoreless baseball. Cincinnati banged out ten hits and walked seven times with Adam Duvall and Scott Schebler driving in runs. Cincinnati hands the ball to Dan Straily who sees the Cardinals for the second time this year. Straily comes off of a 9-2 defeat at the Angels with seven runs plated on eight hits including four homers in 2.2 frames.
St. Louis are 8-2 in their last 10 road games and the over is 14-6-2 in their last 22 Saturday games and is 13-6-1 in their last 20 road games. The over is 16-7 in Cincinnati’s last 23 overall and is 16-7 in their last 23 on grass while the Reds are 8-1 in Straily’s last 9 starts. The Cardinals are 11-5 in the last 16 meetings. Pressing my luck but the Reds again…
