The Line: Kansas City Royals +102 / Detroit Tigers -112 --- Over/Under: 8 See the Latest Odds
The Detroit Tigers look for an encore after a big win on the road against the Kansas City Royals last night as the two teams meet up again on Saturday.
The Tigers held on for a pivotal 7-6 victory at Kauffman Stadium last night and created a bit of separation in their pursuit of a wild card spot and they will be out for another big outing in this one as they send rookie sensation Michael Fulmer to the mound who has been brilliant this season. Detroit had been considered a favourite to win the AL Central this season and while they can still reach that billing they have to contend with the Cleveland Indians for that distinction and they are probably best served chasing a wild card spot at this point. The Tigers will look to tee off on Yordano Ventura who has been up and down this season but is always locked and loaded for a big game and with the Royals playing desperate baseball I think he could be in for a big evening.

The Royals went on a tear in August and played their way back into the wild card race after seemingly being left for dead after the all-star break and if they can get a win here at home against Fulmer and the Tigers it’ll put them in a good position heading into next week. Kansas City are the defending champions and have to be treated as such until they are officially eliminated from playoff contention and while they have had a turnover from last year’s championship side they are still capable of turning in a masterful performance.
The Tigers are 4-0 in Fulmer’s last four starts against the AL Central, 9-1 in his last 10 starts after scoring five or more runs in their previous game, and 4-0 in their last four overall while the Royals are 39-18 in their last 57 against the AL Central, 6-0 in Ventura’s last six starts, and 6-2 in his last eight Saturday starts. Detroit got the win last night and perhaps have the edge on the hill here with Fulmer throwing the ball but I like the Royals to respond at home as they know they can ill afford another loss to their division rivals.
