The Texas Rangers look to keep the bats hot as they continue their series at home against the Houston Astros in an AL West division show down.
The Astros grabbed an early lead against the Rangers last night but couldn’t sustain it as they dropped a 10-8 decision in Arlington and could face more of the same here as the teams meet up again in a series that should decide whether or not the West will be a runaway or closer than people anticipate. Houston had been a preseason favourite to not only win the division but to qualify for the World Series as the top team in the American League, and while there is still a chance they can sneak in as a wild card team and if they get there they could very well go on a run and potentially unseat some of the regular season giants. Houston will send Joe Musgrove to the mound here as he will face off against Derek Holland in what should be an exciting matchup between two teams playing very well right now.

The Rangers meanwhile have won eight of their last 10 games and look to be a serious threat to get to the World Series as they are perhaps the deepest and most well balanced team in the American League. The Rangers have won six games in a row and have had no trouble against their division foes this season and while Derek Holland may not have lived up to the billing as a top pitching prospect he is certainly a serviceable starter here and should give the Rangers the edge in the hill here as Musgrove is still getting his feet wet in the big leagues.
The Astros are 10-3 in their last 13 overall, 5-2 in their last seven road games, and 5-0 in their last five against a lefty while the Rangers are 5-0 in their last five games following a win, 6-1 in Holland’s last seven home starts, and 44-18 in their last 62 home games. Texas let the Astros back into yesterday’s game and with the momentum in their favour I like for them to bounce back here and give Musgrove a big evenin
