The Cardinals have a few interesting hitters available for them. Stephen Piscotty has logged 134 hits with 73 runs, 20 homers and 73 RBI. Yadier Molina sits on 127 hits with 43 runs and 42 RBI. Matt Carpenter has managed 107 hits with 17 homers and 58 RBI with 68 runs.
Over on the Reds’ side, we’ll be seeing Tim Adleman on Sunday. In his seven starts and 2-2 record this year, Adleman owns a 3.82 ERA with a 1.33 WHIP in 35.1 innings. Adleman took a loss his last time out against the Angels, going six inning with seven hits and three runs.
It’s pretty easy to pick out the star hitters on the Reds’ roster. Joey Votto has 138 hits with 85 runs, 22 homers and 79 RBI. Brandon Phillips has hit 133 times with 62 runs and 53 RBI. Eugeno Suarez sits on 116 hits with 65 runs, 20 homers and 62 RBI.
The Cardinals are 2-5 in their last seven Sunday games, and 17-5 in Martinez’s last 22 starts with five days’ rest. St. Louis is also 19-7 in Martinez’s last 26 road starts, and 11-5 in Martinez’s last 16 starts during game three of a series.
Meanwhile, the Reds are 13-38 in their last 51 Sunday games, and 1-5 in their last six during game three of a series. Cincinnati is also 1-4 in Adleman’s last five starts overall, and 1-4 in Adleman’s last five starts on grass.
Martinez looks like a pretty good bet to pitch well here, so give me the Cardinals in the finale.
