The Detroit Tigers look to keep their playoff drive going with a win at the Kansas City Royals.
The Detroit Tigers are playing well and are one of the frontrunners for a Wild Card. The Tigers looked to run their winning streak to five games but lost 5-2 at Kauffman Stadium Saturday night. Detroit’s rookie starter Michael Fulmer took the loss with three runs given up over six frames on seven hits while Kyle Ryan gave up two more to put the game out of reach. The Tigers logged nine hits and seven walks with Ian Kinsler going deep while James McCann drove in JD Martinez. Detroit turns to Daniel Norris for Sunday’s start at the rival Royals. Norris comes in off of an 8-4 victory versus the White Sox with three runs plated over five innings of work.

The Kansas City Royals postseason drive has stalled but there might be time for one last push. The push might have started with Saturday’s victory that snapped a three game skid. Royals starter Yordano Ventura held a dangerous Detroit offense to a single run despite allowing six hits and six bases on balls through six innings. KC banged out nine hits and walked four times with Eric Hosmer cracking a two run bomb while Alcides Escobar knocked in two. Veteran Edinson Volquez looks to get back in the win column against the Tigers Sunday. Volquez was a 5-4 loser versus the Yankees the last time out with four runs given up in 3.1 frames.
The under is 10-3-1 in Detroit’s last 14 Sunday games and the over is 6-2 in Norris' last 8 road starts. The under is 19-7 in Kansas City’s last 26 Sunday games and the Royals are 16-6 in their last 22 overall while going 16-6 in their last 22 games on grass. The Tigers are 3-7 in the last 10 meetings. No great feel for this honestly…
