Over at PNC Park on Monday, the St. Louis Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Pirates will be getting their MLB series going.
The Cardinals just finished against the Reds, losing the first two games by a combined nine runs. On Sunday, the Cardinals finally got a victory 5-2.

As for the Pirates, they just played against the Brewers. Pittsburgh dropped the first two games as well, and in Sunday’s finale, the Pirates were destroyed 10-0.
The Cardinals will be bringing out right-hander Adam Wainwright on Monday. In 27 starts with a 9-8 record, Wainwright owns a 4.53 ERA with a 1.34 WHIP in 163 innings. Wainwright posted a no-decision in seven innings against Milwaukee his last time up, with three hits and one earned.
The Cardinals have some interesting hitters atop their order. Stephen PIscotty has hit 135 times with 75 runs, 20 homers and 73 RBI. Yadier Molina has 42 RBI with 129 hits and 44 runs. Matt Carpenter has put up 107 hits with 68 runs and 58 RBI.
Over on the Pirates’ side, we’ll be seeing RHP Chad Kuhl on Monday. In nine starts and a 3-2 record, Kuhl holds a 3.70 ERA with a 1.17 WHIP in 48.2 innings. Kuhn took a loss his last time out with five innings, four hits and three earned at Wrigley.
Meanwhile with the Pittsburgh hitters, we’ve got Starling Marte who has logged 149 hits with 70 runs and 46 RBI. Josh Harrison holds 128 hits with 51 runs and 55 RBI. Andrew McCutchen sits on 125 hits with 68 runs and 58 RBI.
The Cardinals are 7-2 in their last nine Monday games, and 10-4 in their last 14 game ones of a series. St. Louis is also 5-2 in Wainwright’s last seven Monday starts, and 39-19 in Wainwright’s last 58 road starts.
As for the Pirates, they’re 1-4 in their last five game ones of a series, and 7-2 in Kuhl’s last nine starts. Pittsburgh is also 7-2 in Kuhl’s last nine starts on grass, and the Pirates are 5-0 in their last five home games versus Wainwright.
Neither one of these teams is playing all that well right now, but I’ll take Wainwright and the Cardinals in what should be an evenly-matched game.
