Tampa Bay Rays vs. Baltimore Orioles - 9/6/16 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The Orioles will be bringing out RHP Yovani Gallardo on Tuesday. In his 19 starts and 4-7 record this year, Gallardo has put up a 5.62 ERA with a 1.62 WHIP in 97.2 innings. Gallardo based a loss against the Blue Jays his last time out, logging six innings with five hits and three earned.

Baltimore has some great hitters at their disposal. Manny Machado has hit 164 times with 94 runs, 33 homers and 85 RBI. Adam Jones holds 144 hits with 78 runs, 25 homers and 76 RBI. Jonathan Schoop has hit 143 times with 71 runs, 21 homers and 72 RBI.

The Rays will put Jake Odorizzi on the mound for the start Tuesday. In 28 starts and a 9-5 record this year, Odorizzi has put up a 3.56 ERA with a 1.21 WHIP in 161.2 innings. Odorizzi put up a no-decision his last time out with six innings, five hits and three earned.

The Rays have some nice hitters as well. Evan Longoria holds 148 hits, 71 runs, 31 homers and 85 RBI. Brad Miller has hit 118 times with 62 runs, 26 homers and 69 RBI. Logan Forsythe has hit 115 times with 66 runs and 46 RBI.

The Orioles are 7-1 in Gallardo’s last eight starts versus a team with a losing record, and 1-4 in Gallardo’s last five road starts. Baltimore is also 0-5 in Gallardo’s last five starts overall, and 0-5 in Gallardo’s last five starts against the AL East.

Meanwhile, the Rays are 5-0 in Odorizzi’s last five home starts, and 4-0 in Odorizzi’s last four starts. Tampa Bay is also 6-1 in Odorizzi’s last seven Tuesday starts, and 5-1 in Odorizzi’s last six starts on astroturf.

I think Odorizzi has the Orioles’ number here, so I’ll take Tampa Bay for the win.
