The Boston Red Sox continue their pivotal road set against the San Diego Padres on Wednesday after a big outing on Tuesday.
The Red Sox look to claim top spot in the American League East for their own with a win and a Blue Jays loss on Wednesday and with David Price on the mound for the visitors they are certainly expected to do some damage here according to the odds makers. Boston dropped their game on Monday against the Padres but responded yesterday and continued their hit parade against the Padres who haven’t had a great season and will finish well short of the playoff race. Boston has their eyes set on the postseason in any capacity but obviously taking down top spot in the division and avoiding a wild card show down would be ideal but they certainly have company with the Jays, Orioles, and even the Yankees still in the fold.

The Padres meanwhile will look to shake off the rust and get back in the win column but they have their hands full here with one of the best offenses in baseball and one of the bets pitchers in the league all wrapped up into one game. San Diego does have some pop in the lineup and could get to Price if they draw out some long at bats but his stuff at its best he is very tough to hit and he has bene on fire since the all-star break which accounts for why the Red ox are favoured by so much in this one.
The Red Sox are 5-0 in Price’s last five starts, 15-6 in their last 21 interleague games, and 3-10 in their last 13 during game three of a series while the Padres are 2-5 in their last seven overall, 5-13 in their last 18 interleague home games, and 1-4 in Cosart’s last five starts. Boston is a big time favourite and rightfully so as they should have no issues building on last night’s effort.
