The Philadelphia Phillies head down the turnpike to battle the Washington Nationals.
The Philadelphia Phillies are better then they have been in recent years but a winning record is still elusive. The Phillies had won back to back games before the offense stalled in a 6-0 defeat at Miami. Phils starter Jeremy Hellickson was charged with four runs (three earned) On nine hits over six frames to fall to 10-9. Philadelphia was held to four hits and five walks with Cesar Fernandez logging two hits. Philadelphia has yet to name a starter and might use somebody called up from the minors.

If the Washington Nationals need to stay hot for a few weeks and the NL East crown will be theirs. I follow the Nationals because as a Philly fan and Orioles fan it just seems like a natural thing to do. The Nats are heads and tails above the rest of the National League East with loads of talent in the rotation assuming Strasburg is 100%. The Washington offense has plenty of offensive weapons as well but in following this team I believe they can be pitched to and the pitching will be forced to carry the load in the postseason and I’m not sure that happens. With the rosters expanding Washington will likely go with a young arm but haven’t tipped their hand.
The over is 9-3-1 in Philadelphia last 13 road games and the under is 6-2-1 in their last 9 overall while going 6-2-1 in their last 9 on grass. The over is 9-2 in Washington’s last 11 home games and the under is 7-2 in their last 9 overall while going 7-2 in their last 9 on grass. The Phillies are 9-23 in the last 32 meetings. Neither team has named a starter so please check back…
