The San Diego Padres look to build on their impressive effort yesterday as they continue their show down at home with the Colorado Rockies on Friday.
The Rockies had a rough start to their Thursday night game at Petco Park with the Padres as they gave up six runs in the first three innings and will be out for a much better start on Friday with Tyler Chatwood getting the start against Luis Perdomo. Colorado has one of the best offenses in baseball but their pitching has struggled once again this season and as such they will likely fall well short of the playoffs after looking like a potential wild card team at the playoffs but with some of the guys they have on the roster they should be able to draw some free agent appeal this winter despite the Coors factor for starting pitchers.

The Padres meanwhile have sold the farm as they have unloaded some key pieces this season as they look to building a better future and may only use Wil Myers as their focal point to build around. San Diego does have some solid pieces in the rotation and a couple of decent young arms in the rotation including Perdomo who has shown he has some great stuff despite not having the best year statistically but in this one he will look to shut down the Rockies high flying offense.
The Rockies are 2-7 in their last nine road games, 9-2 in Chatwood’s last 11 road starts, and 0-4 in his last four overall while the Padres are 1-4 in their last five overall, 1-5 in their last six home games, and 14-6 in their last 20 Friday games. The Rockies need to break out of this funk and get the pitcher to do so as Chatwood has been better than Perdomo and I think he does enough here to get the Rockies in the win column.
