The Line: Chicago White Sox +118 / Kansas City Royals -128 --- Over/Under: 9.5 See the Latest Odds
The Chicago White Sox look to stay hot after a big win last night against the Kansas City Royals as the two sides meet up again on Saturday.
The Royals look to get back in the win column and keep pace in the AL wild card race as they take on their Central division rivals from Chicago at the Cell, and after a disappointing effort last night they know they need a better game here today. The Royals are the defending champions but run the risk of missing out on the playoff altogether as they are just 5-5 in their last 10 games and are spoiling a great opportunity to make up ground as they take on a disappointing White Sox group. Kansas City will send Edinson Volquez to the hill here as he will look to improve on his 10-10 record and lower his 5.08 ERA and he will face off against Big Game James as James Shields looks for just his sixth win of the year and avoid a ridiculous 18th loss.

The White Sox paid a pretty penny to get James Shields from the San Diego Padres and it is clear to see it has been a tough experiment so far and while he has shown flashes of his former self it’ll be interesting to see what they will do with him moving forward. The White Sox are five games under the .500 mark and will be looking to finish the season with some momentum and play spoiler for the Royals in the process and after a big win yesterday they have to feel confident heading into this one as both teams are throwing shaky starters.
The Royals are 7-1 in their last eight against a team with a losing record, 19-8 in their last 27 overall, and 10-3 in their last 13 road games while the White Sox are 6-1 in their last seven Saturday games, 4-1 in their last five home games, and 1-5 in Shields’ last six home starts. Shields is having a tough go of late and I think the Royals capitalize here in a game they need to win.
