Headed our way in MLB action on Saturday, the Tampa Bay Rays will return to Yankee Stadium to take on the New York Yankees.
This will be the third game of the set. In Thursday’s game, the Yankees eked out a 5-4 win. On Friday (after three rain delays), New York made it two in a row with a 7-5 victory.

The Rays will be bringing out RHP Chris Archer for Saturday’s game. Over 29 starts and an 8-17 record, Archer holds a 4.06 ERA with a 1.25 WHIP in 175.1 innings. Against the Blue Jays his last time out, Archer went 6.1 innings with five hits and two earned for a no-decision.
It’s easy to find the stars on the Rays’ roster. Evan Longoria holds 152 hits with 71 runs, 31 homers and 85 RBI. Brad Miller has hit 119 times with 63 runs, 26 homers and 69 RBI. Logan Forsythe has hit 119 times with 67 runs and 47 RBI.
Over on the Yankees’ side, we’ll be seeing RHP Masahiro Tanaka in the starting role Saturday. Over 28 starts and a 12-4 record this year, Tanaka holds a 3.11 ERA with a 1.08 WHIP in 179.1 innings. Tanaka went 6.1 innings against Toronto his last time out, getting a win on seven hits and two earned.
The Yankees have a few nice hitters in their order as well. Starlin Castro has bagged 140 hits with 60 runs, 20 homers and 66 RBI. Didi Gregorius holds 136 hits with 62 runs and 63 RBI. Jacoby Ellsbury is sitting on 62 runs, 129 hits and 49 RBI so far.
The Rays are 6-2 in their last eight game threes of a series, and 4-10 in their last 14 Saturday games. Tampa Bay is also 5-12 in Archer’s last 17 road starts, and 5-15 in Archer’s last 20 starts.
As for the Yankees, they’re 4-1 in their last five game threes of a series, and 6-1 in Tanaka’s last seven Saturday starts. New York is also 5-1 in Tanaka’s last six starts with four days’ rest, and 4-1 in Tanaka’s last five starts in game three of a series.
I like Tanaka here to come out and pitch well to put the Yankees in a position to win. I’ll take New York for the victory here.
