Coming up on Sunday in MLB action, the Baltimore Orioles and the Detroit Tigers will conclude their series from Comerica Park.
In Friday’s opener of this series, the Tigers eked out a 4-3 win. On Saturday, Baltimore returned the favor with an 11-3 victory.

For Sunday’s game, the Orioles will be bringing out RHP Chris Tillman for the start. In his 26 starts and 15-5 record this year, Tillman holds a 3.76 ERA with a 1.27 WHIP in 153 innings. Taking a loss against Houston his last time up, Tillman lasted just two innings with six hits and six earned.
Baltimore has some nice hitters at their disposal. Manny Machado has hit 170 times with 98 runs, 34 homers and 90 RBI. Adam Jones holds 150 hits with 81 runs, 26 homers and 80 RBI. Jonathan Schoop has hit 146 times with 75 runs, 22 homers and 75 RBI.
Over on the Tigers’ side, we’ll be seeing RHP Justin Verlander in the starting role. Across 29 starts and a 14-7 record, Verlander has logged a 3.28 ERA with a 1.01 WHIP in 195 innings. Verlander got a no-decision in his last appearance, going seven innings with eight hits and two earned.
It’s easy to find the big hitters on the Detroit roster. Miguel Cabrera has logged 162 hits with 77 runs, 31 homers and 87 RBI. Ian Kinsler holds 154 hits with 102 runs, 25 homers and 72 RBI. Victor Martinez is sitting on 146 hits with 58 runs, 24 homers and 76 RBI.
The Orioles are 5-2 in their last seven Sunday games, and 5-1 in Tillman’s last six road starts. Baltimore is also 19-7 in Tillman’s last 26 Sunday starts, and 21-6 in Tillman’s last 27 starts overall.
As for the Tigers, they’re 4-0 in Verlander’s last four starts, and 5-1 in Verlander’s last six home starts. Detroit is also 4-1 in Verlander’s last five starts with five days’ rest, and 2-7 in Verlander’s last nine Sunday starts.
Both starting pitchers are usually strong here, so I like the under in this one. I’ll give Verlander and the Tigers a slight edge on the win, though.
