The Seattle Mariners hope to keep their slim postseason hopes alive when they visit the Angels on Monday.
The Seattle Mariners need to do a lot of winning and hope for some help to stay in the postseason conversation. The Mariners did their part with a 3-2 decision at Oakland Sunday afternoon for win number five in a row. M’s starter James Paxton gave up both runs on five hits over six frames with three relievers keeping the Athletics off the scoreboard. Seattle pounded out 12 hits with Mike Zunino going deep and driving in two while Ketel Marte went 3-3 with an RBI. The Mariners hand the ball to Ariel Miranda for 7th start of the year and third against the Angels. Miranda picked up an 8-3 win versus Texas with six scoreless innings.

The Los Angeles Angels aren’t the American League West power they once were and need to make some changes. The Angels had been red hot before dropping four in a row with a 3-2 victory versus visiting Texas getting them back in the win column. LAA starter Jered Weaver allowed both runs on solo jack while whiffing eight through 6.2 innings. Los Angeles posted eight hits and two walks with Andrelton Simmons smacking a pair of homers while Yunel Escobar went solo. Ricky Nolasco shoots for his third straight quality start when he opposes the Mariners for the third time this year. Nolasco comes off a 3-2 defeat at Oakland with all three runs allowed in seven frames.
The over is 10-2 in Seattle’s last 12 overall and is 10-2 in their last 12 on grass. The under is 6-2 in the Angels last 8 home games and is 12-5 in their last 17 on grass while going 13-6-1 in their last 20 overall. Not really pitching that knocks your socks off…
