The New York Mets tangle with the Washington Nationals in DC on Monday night.
The New York Mets have been winning and must continue to do so just to have a chance at the postseason. The Mets have been streaking as winners in seven of eight after Sunday’s 10-3 rout of Atlanta. NYM starter Seth Lugo got the win with a pair of runs scoring on six hits over seven frames. New York racked up eleven hits with James Loney going deep and driving in two while Yoenis Cespedes hit a grand slam and knocked in five. Rafael Montero will be coming out of the bullpen to make his third straight start. Montero has had control problems in his first two starts with ten walks over 9.1 innings.

The Washington Nationals know that the National League East is all but wrapped up and they want to head in to the playoffs with a full and healthy lineup. The Nationals remained hot with a 3-2 victory over rival Philadelphia for their 6th win in seven contests. Nats starter Gio Gonzalez upped his record to 11-9 with a run allowed through seven innings before Koda Glover served up a solo homer in the 8th. Washington mustered four hits and three walks with Anthony Rendon doubling in a run and scoring while Trea Turner went 2-3 with a run. With Strasburg out the Nationals have yet to name a starter.
The Mets are 22-6 in their last 28 Monday games and the under is 6-2 in their last 8 overall while going 6-2 in their last 8 on grass. The under is 9-3-1 in Washington’s last 13 overall and is 9-3-1 in their last 13 on grass while the over is 10-4-1 in their last 15 home games. I see Lucas Giolito mentioned as a starter here and there but no line is out…
