The Arizona Diamondbacks look to stay hot at the dish on Wednesday night after a great outing last night as they continue their series against the Colorado Rockies.
The Rockies look to play their way back into the wild card picture but will need to right the ship in a hurry as they are slowly falling out of it and if they drop another one here to the D-Backs they can all but kiss their World Series chance goodbye. The Rockies are a tough team to figure out as they have a very strong lineup led by Carlos Gonzalez, Nolan Arenado, and Charlie Blackmon and will get Trevor Story back in full health next season but their rotation always seems to be an issue and until they can rectify that they will stay in this limbo stage flirting with a playoff spot. Colorado is a woeful 2-10 in their last 12 road games against a team with a losing record and a stat like that is exactly why they are on the outside looking in, but they do send Jeff Hoffman to the hill here who is a former top prospect with the Toronto Blue Jays.

The Snakes meanwhile have been struggling of late as they are just 1-6 in their last seven overall and carry the same mark in their last seven against the NL West but a solid outing last night could turn them around heading into the final stretch of the season. Arizona will send Rubby De La Rosa to the hill here who is 4-5 with a 4.17 ERA this season and will match up against Hoffman who is 0-3 with a 5.60 mark but as mentioned he was a key part in the trade that sent Troy Tulowitzki to Toronto and will be counted on as a big part of their rotation moving forward.
The Rockies are 4-1 in their last five road games against a righty, 0-4 in Hoffman’s last four starts, and 3-11 in their last 14 against a team with a losing record while the Diamondbacks are 5-2 in their last seven during game three of a series, 7-23 in their last 30 Wednesday games, and 7-2 in De La Rosa’s last nine on four days rest. The Rockies need to bounce back here and have the bats to do so against De La Rosa who is suspect at best.
