The Colorado Rockies host the rival San Diego Padres in Friday night action at Coors Field.
The San Diego Padres are going nowhere in the NL West and really hurt the Giants via their three game sweep capped off by a 3-1 victory on Wednesday. The Padres pitching was the star of the game with starter Luis Perdomo upping his record to 9-8 with a run scoring on four hits over 6.1 frames with three relievers putting up zeros. SD totaled eight hits and four walks with Luis Sardinas going 3-4 with an RBI and two runs. While Yangervis Solarte and Alex Dickerson drove in runsChristian Friedrich gets the ball for his second straight start against the Rockies on Friday. Friedrich defeated Colorado 6-3 with a two hit shutout over seven innings with ten strikeouts.

The Colorado Rockies goal of finishing the year with a winning record doesn’t seem as likely as it did a week ago with three consecutive defeats where the pitching was hammered for 34 runs. The Rockies were pummeled 11-6 at Arizona Wednesday with no pitching to speak of. Rockies starter Jeff Hoffman fell to 0-4 with seven rubs plated (four earned) over 4.2 innings before Christian Bergman allowed three runs in 1.1 innings. Colorado banged out 13 hits and walked four times with Daniel Descalso smacking a two run bomb while Charlie Blackmon homered and scored twice. Every starter reached base but the Rockies couldn’t keep up on the scoreboard. Tyler Chatwood toes the rubber for back to back meetings versus San Diego. Chatwood defeated the Padres 4-1 with the lone run plated on five hits in 6.2 frames.
San Diego are 11-23 in their last 34 road games. Colorado are 10-1 in Chatwood.s last 11 Friday starts and the under is 7-2-1 in Chatwood’s last 10 home starts while going 5-2-1 in Chatwood’s last 8 on grass. The under is 7-3-1 in the last 11 meetings. I’ll go with the home team but they are not looking good…
