The Chicago Cubs and the Milwaukee Brewers butt heads at Wrigley Field on Saturday.
The Milwaukee Brewers don’t have much of a season left to be spoilers but they have played the better competition tough. The Brewers saw their two game winning streak end in a 5-4, ten inning loss as their pen failed them late. Brew Crew starter Chase Anderson allowed two runs over six frames before Carlos Torres gave up two in the 9th to blow a 4-2 lead with Blaine Boyer served up a walk off homer in the 9th to absorb the loss. Milwaukee totaled ten hits and walked twice with Scooter Gennett, Orlando Arcia and Ryan Braun going deep. Milwaukee hands the ball to Zach Davies who faces the Cubs for the 4th time this season. Davies comes off a 2-1 win at St. Louis where he allowed the lone run over 7.1 innings.

Nobody is catching the Chicago Cubs so the remainder of the season will be getting the team ready for the playoffs. The Cubs clinched the National League Central with Friday’s win that featured some late inning offense to steal the win. Cubbies starter John Lackey was hit hard with all four runs given up on nine hits including three homers before a pair of relievers threw shutout baseball. Chicago banged out eleven hits and walked four times with Albert Almora Jr. going deep and driving in two with Miguel Montero going solo as the Cubs scored two in the 9th and once in the 10th. The Cubs go with Jake Arrieta on the mound for game two of the series with the visiting Brewers. Arrieta comes off of a 9-5 win at Houston with three runs plated in 5.1 frames.
The over is 22-7-2 in Milwaukee’s last 31 Saturday games. The under is 6-2 in the Cubs last 8 overall and is 6-2 in their last 8 on grass while Chicago are 47-19 in their last 66 home games. Milwaukee are 7-19 in the last 26 meetings in Chicago and the under is 17-8 in the last 25 meetings in Chicago. With the Cubs clinching I would be careful betting this game and I’d definitely check lineups…
