Detroit Tigers need a win at the Cleveland Indians on Saturday to stay in in the AL Central race.
The Detroit Tigers probably are not going to win the American League Central and the Wild Card is not guaranteed. Following Friday’s 11-4 defeat at Cleveland the Tigers have dropped five of seven and need a quick turnaround. Detroit starter Michael Fulmer gave up six runs on seven hits and three BB with three relievers giving up five runs. Detroit was held to five hits and four walks with Justin Upton clubbing two homers and driving in all four runs. Justin Verlander shoots for another quality start when he faces the Indians on Saturday. Verlander comes off a 3-1 loss to Baltimore with all three runs scoring over five innings.

The Cleveland Indians have been trying to sew up the American League Central but not been at their best the past week. The Indians were in a bit of a funk with losses in four of six before exploding for a much needed win Friday where both the arms and bats contributed. Tribe starter Corey Kluber gave up all four runs on five hits and three BB including a pair of homers through seven innings. Cleveland pounded out 14 hits and walked five times with Mike Napoli going deep and driving in four and scoring twice while Carlos Santana and Roberto Perez knocked in two runs apiece. Cleveland hands the ball to Carlos Carrasco for his 4th start of the year versus the Tigers. Carrasco has struggled the past two times out with nine runs plated in eleven frames.
The over is 7-2 in Detroit’s last 9 road games and Detroit are 8-3 in their last 11 road games while the under is 15-4-2 in Verlander’s last 21 on grass. The under is 6-2-1 in Cleveland’s last 9 Saturday games and the over is 6-2 in their last 8 home games while the Indians are 36-16 in their last 52 home games. The over is 23-4 in the last 27 meetings in Cleveland and Detroit are 5-16 in the last 21 meetings. I’m going with the over once again...
