The New York Mets look to inch closer to nailing down a Wild Card with a win versus the Minnesota Twins.
The Minnesota Twins will be looking towards the off season and finding ways to improve their lineup. The Twins took a tough 3-2, 12 inning defeat at Citi Field as they blew a 10th inning lead. Minnesota starter Ervin Santana tossed seven scoreless frames with Brandon Kintzler blowing the save before Ryan O’Rourke served up an 11th inning walk off jack. The Twins totaled eight hits and walked six runs with Eddie Rosario and Byron Buxton clubbing solo homers. Kyle Gibson will be shooting for consecutive victories when he takes the hill at Citi Field Sunday. Gibson comes off of an 8-1 win at Detroit with the lone run given up over eight innings.

The Mets stayed in the postseason race with Saturday’s narrow win where their pitching saved the day. NYM starter Seth Lugo gave up a run on four hits and four free passes through five innings with Hansel Robles served up a 10th inning long ball. New York posted ten hits and walked three times with Curtis Granderson slamming a pair of homers including the walk off winner in the 11th.Jacob deGrom returns from a forearm problem to face Minnesota for the first time in his career. DeGrom struggled the last three times out with an 0-3 record and 9.82 ERA.
