The Boston Red Sox look to extend their lead in the AL East as they head into Camden Yards for a pivotal series with the Baltimore Orioles.
The Boston Red Sox have been on an absolute tear of late and just when it looks like they are going to lose they rally back with a vengeance and put a serious damper on the Yankees’ playoff hopes after the weekend. Boston has without question one of the best teams in the league and certainly one of the best offenses in baseball and they are going to need every bit of it in this series as they take on a desperate Orioles side that is only three games back of the Red Sox for the AL East lead and currently hold on to a wild card position. The Red Sox know the O’s have been lights out at home this season but with Rick Porcello on the mound they know they have a great shot at getting a victory as he is a ridiculous 20-4 this season and will face off against Dylan Bundy.

The Orioles meanwhile have done their part to keep pace in the division race but the Red Sox just keep winning and they remain three games back of the division lead but that can all change with a strong series here at home. Baltimore is no slouch at the plate either as they have so many weapons that can change the course of a game as the likes of Mark Trumbo, Manny Machado, and Adam Jones are all heavy hitters and while their rotation hasn’t been great, Bundy has been a pleasant surprise as he is 9-5 with a 3.88 ERA and should be able to keep the O’s in this one against Porcello.
The Red Sox are 6-0 in Porcello’s last six starts in a series opener, 22-8 in his last 30 starts overall, and 10-2 in his last 12 starts following a team win while the Orioles are 5-0 in Bundy’s last five series openers, 9-4 in their last 13 home games against a team with a winning record, and 41-18 in their last 59 home games against a righty. Porcello has been great this season but has also had some luck in his favour and in a pivotal series I think the O’s start it off with a statement.
