The Los Angeles Dodgers look to get off to a better start in this one than they did last night as they face off with the Colorado Rockies on Friday.
The Rockies look to play spoiler on the road against the Dodgers who are in cruise control right now in the NL West race but feel the Giants breathing down their necks and a series loss here to the Rockies could end up costing them valuable ground as the season end fast approaches. Colorado has a pretty solid squad, at least at the plate, and if they can turn some of their young pitchers into bona fide aces than they should be able to give the Dodgers and Giants a run as early as next season. Nolan Arenado is a freak, and with CarGo still on the roster, Teevor Story looking like the real deal, and Charlie Blackmon still on board they can hit with anybody and should be a team to watch out for if they can get a piece or two in the offseason.

The Dodgers meanwhile are in win now mode as they have the roster to compete for a World Series and after bringing in some key pieces at the deadline it looks like they are risking any potential star prospect for the chance to win this season. Los Angeles is coming off another fierce series with the Giants and now play their second game against the Rockies after their series opener last night and with Scott Kazmir on the hill here against Jon Gray I think we could be in for a very exciting matchup.
The Rockies are 4-1 in their last five Friday games, 1-4 in their last five road games, and 3-14 in Gray’s last 17 road starts while the Dodgers are 1-6 in their last seven Friday games, 8-3 in Kazmir’s last 11 starts, and 9-3 in their last 12 against the NL West. While Gray is coming off a nice outing he is a different pitcher it seems on the road and I think the Dodgers take advantage and get Kazmir the win.
