The St. Louis Cardinals will be at Wrigley Field Sunday to face the rival Chicago Cubs.
The St. Louis Cardinals are still in the Wild Card race but they can’t afford a slump right now. After back to back defeats the Cardinals got back in the win column in a big way with a 10-4 rout of the Cubs. Cards starter Alex Reyes improved to 4-1 with three runs plated over five frames. The Redbirds racked up 14 hits and walked four times with Stephen Piscotty going deep, knocking in two and scoring twice while Yadier Molina and Randal Grichuk combining for seven RBI’s. Carlos Martinez toes the rubber at Wrigley Field Saturday in search od back to back wins. Martinez comes off a 5-3 win at Colorado with two runs scoring over five innings.

Even though the Chicago Cubs have wrapped up the National League Central they have not let up. The Cubs haven’t taken too many on the chin this season but did in Saturday’s lopsided defeat which probably didn’t sit well coming against the Cardinals. Chicago starter Jason Hammel was charged with sis runs through 2.1 innings while Hector Rodon gave up three runs in 1/3 of an inning. The Cubs logged eight hits and three walks with Wilson Contreras going solo while Ben Zobrist tripled in two. The Cubs hand the ball to veteran John Lester for his third start against the Cardinals. Lester picked up a 6-1 victory versus Cincinnati last time out with the lone run allowed in seven frames.
The over is 15-5-2 in St. Louis last 22 Sunday games and St. Louis are 21-7 in Martinez’s last 28 road starts while the under is 7-3-1 in Martinez’s last 11 road starts. Chicago are 39-15 in their last 54 overall and are 39-15 in their last 54 games on grass while going 52-21 in their last 73 home games. The over is 11-5 in the last 16 meetings in Chicago. Even though this game means nothing to the Cubs they aren’t happy about Saturday…
