Pitching for the Phillies on Wednesday will be lefty Adam Morgan. In his 22 games, 20 starts and 2-10 record, Morgan owns a 5.57 ERA with a 1.46 WHIP in 108.1 innings. In New York in his last starts, Morgan put up a no-decision with five innings, five hits and three earned.
The Phillies have a few interesting bats up top. Odubel Herrera has put up 163 hits with 86 runs and 48 RBI. Cesar Hernandez owns 156 hits with 66 runs and 38 RBI. Maikel Franco has put up 141 hits with 64 runs, 25 homers and 87 RBI.
Over on the Braves’ side, we’ll be seeing RHP Mike Foltynewicz in the starting role Wednesday. Over his 21 starts and 8-5 record this season, Foltynewicz owns a 4.41 ERA with a 1.31 WHIP in 118.1 innings. Foltynewicz put up a no-decision in his last appearance with 3.2 innings, 11 hits and five earned.
Atlanta has a few noteworthy hitters as well. Freddie Freeman has bagged 176 hits with 99 runs, 33 homers and 88 RBI. Nick Markakis holds 159 hits with 65 runs and 88 RBI. Ender Inciarte sits on 149 hits with 82 runs and 29 RBI.
The Phillies are 7-20 in Morgan’s last 27 starts, and 2-7 in Morgan’s last nine starts versus the NL East. Philadelphia is also 1-4 in Morgan’s last five starts with five days’ rest, and 1-7 in Morgan’s last eight road starts.
As for the Braves, they’re 8-2 in their last 10 during game two of a series, and 18-40 in their last 58 against a left-handed starter. Atlanta is also 1-5 in Foltynewicz’s last six Wednesday starts, and 2-5 in their last seven Wednesday games.
There’s not a whole lot to like here on either side, but I’ll give Foltynewicz and the Braves a slight advantage in this game.
