The Los Angeles Angels host the Houston Astros in the final series of the season.
The Houston Astros could tie for the Wild Card if they sweep their last series and just about everybody else loses so the odds are not good. The Astros have lost five of seven following a 12-4 loss to Seattle where they fell behind early and were done for. Stros starter Doug Fister fell to 12-13 with five runs plated over 1.1 frames while four relievers allowed seven runs. Houston banged out eleven hits with George Springer and Evan Gattis clubbing solo homers. The Astros hand the ball to Brad Peacock for his second straight start against the Angels. Peacock did not get a decision in a 10-4 defeat with a run allowed over five innings.

The Los Angeles Angels have been red hot although they have been out of the postseason race for awhile. The Angels have won seven of eight after an 8-6 victory versus Oakland. LAA starter Alex Meyer allowed two runs through four innings before Brett Oberholtzer gave up three runs in 2/3 of an inning. Los Angeles managed ten hits and four walks with Kole Calhoun going deep and driving in two while Andrelton Simmons knocked in two more. Rookie Daniel Wright makes his 7th start of the season and second straight against the Astros. Wright dropped a 4-1 decision to Houston with three runs scoring in six frames.
Houston are 10-4 in their last 14 Friday games and Houston are 5-11 in Peacock’s last 16 starts while Houston are 5-11 in Peacock’s last 16 starts on grass. The Angels are 7-1 in their last 8 overall and are 7-1 in their last 8 games on grass while going 7-19 in their last 26 Friday games. The Astros are 12-3 in the last 15 meetings.
Peacock is the better hurler but the Angels have been the better team so hopefully the bats help out the kid…
