The Line: Kansas City Royals +113 / Cleveland Indians -123 --- Over/Under: 9 See the Latest Odds
The Cleveland Indians look to finish off their final series of the regular season with a bang against the Kansas City Royals before they head into the postseason as AL Central champions.
The Indians look to build on a big 7-1 victory on the road against he defending champions last night and with a win tonight they can secure another series victory against their division rivals and gear up for the playoffs with some momentum. The Tribe are a very solid team but have had to deal with plenty of injuries this season and the latest to the core of their starting rotation could mean an early exit for this group if their front end guys aren’t ready to go. As for tonight though, they will send Trevor Bauer to the hill who is slated to face off against Edinson Volquez who is 10-11 with a 5.42 ERA in what has been a forgettable season for the him and for the Royals as a whole.
USA TODAY Sports
Kansas City are the defending World Series champions but they won’t get a shot at defending their crown as they will fall short of a wild card spot in the American League and are playing out the string on their final series of the season. The Royals endured a lot of adversity this season and will have to go back to the drawing board this winter but they have a ton of key pieces still in place and if they can add some parts in the offseason they should be able to get back in the mix as early as next year. The Royals will look to get to Bauer who is 12-8 with a 4.26 ERA and while those numbers are serviceable it pales in comparison to any and all of the front three in Cleveland’s rotation that includes Salazar, Kluber, and Carrasco.
The Indians are 1-4 in their last five overall, 1-4 in Bauer’s last five starts on a Saturday, and 1-4 in their last five against the AL Central while the Royals are 5-1 in their last six home games, 4-1 in their last five overall, and 4-0 in their last four Saturday games. The Indians got a big win last night but I think the Royals counter here as they will look to salvage at leats a split in this series with the Tribe.
