New York Yankees vs. Baltimore Orioles - 10/2/16 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

For Sunday’s game, the Orioles will be bringing out Kevin Gausman. In his 29 games and 8-12 record this year, Gausman owns a 3.66 ERA and a 1.28 WHIP in 172.1 innings. In a loss in Toronto his last time out, Gausman put up seven hits with four earned in six innings.

Baltimore has some great bats in their lineup. Manny Machado has bagged 187 hits with 104 runs, 37 homers and 96 RBI. Adam Jones has hit 164 times with 86 runs, 29 homers and 83 RBI. Jonathan Schoop holds 162 hits with 81 runs, 25 homers and 82 RBI.

Over on the Yankees side, we’ll be seeing RHP Luis Cessa in the start Sunday. In 16 games, eight starts and a 4-3 record, Cessa holds a 4.18 ERA with a 1.13 WHIP in 64.2 innings. In a no-decision against Boston his last time out, Cessa put up five hits and two earned in six innings.

New York has some key hitters in their order as well. Starlin Castro holds 156 hits with 63 runs, 21 homers and 70 RBI. Didi Gregorius has hit 153 times with 68 runs, 20 homers and 69 RBI. Jacoby Ellsbury has hit 143 times with 71 runs and 56 RBI.

The Orioles are 8-2 in they last 10 Sunday games, and 6-2 in their last eight overall. Baltimore is also 5-2 in their last seven road games and 5-2 in their last seven road games versus a team with a winning record.

As for the Yankees, they’re 1-4 in their last five game threes of a series, and 1-6 in their last seven Sunday games. New York is also 5-2 in Cessa’s last seven starts on grass, and 4-0 in Cessa’s last four starts following a quality start in his last appearance.

I like Cessa here, as he’s 4-1 in his last five starts versus a team with a winning record. I’ll take the Yankees to get a win in this one.
