The Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago Cubs play game six of the NLCS Saturday night at Wrigley Field on FS1.
The Los Angeles Dodgers need a victory here in order to force a deciding game seven Sunday night. The Dodgers pitching staff continues to let them down, as Los Angeles has allowed a combined 26 runs in the three losses to the Cubs in this series. Yes, the Dodgers offense could be more effective, but that LA pitching rotation hasn’t given the team much of a chance in those losses. The Los Angeles Dodgers have now lost 11 of their last 14 games when allowing more than three runs. Offensively, Justin Turner and Corey Seager have combined for 19 hits and 12 RBI while Joc Pederson has nine hits on 34 at bats. Clayton Kershaw gets the ball, and he was 12-4 with a 1.69 ERA and 172 strikeouts this season. Kershaw is 4-6 with a 4.39 ERA and 102 strikeouts in his postseason career.

The Chicago Cubs are a win away from their first World Series appearance since the 1945 season. The Cubs offense has really flexed it's muscle the last two games by producing a combined 18 runs and 26 hits. The Cubs have now won 14 of their last 18 games when scoring more than three runs. Javier Baez and Kris Bryant have combined for 25 hits and 12 RBI while Dexter Fowler has nine hits on 38 at bats. The Chicago Cubs have all the momentum and back-to-back blowout wins has to be terrific for their confidence after once trialing this series 2-1. You can expect Wrigley to provide the best atmosphere we’ve seen in quite some time. Kyle Hendricks takes the hill, and he was 16-8 with a 2.13 ERA and 170 strikeouts this season. Hendricks is 0-1 with a 4.08 ERA and 16 strikeouts in his postseason career.
The Dodgers are 41-19 in Kershaws last 60 road starts and 61-21 in Kershaws last 82 starts overall. The Cubs are 9-3 in Hendricks' last 12 home starts and 7-2 in Hendricks' last 9 starts overall. The Dodgers are 6-2 in Kershaws last 8 starts vs. Cubs.
The crowd in Wrigley is going to be nuts with majority of Cubs fans having a chance to see their team make the World Series for the first time in their lifetime. Hendricks has also been pretty solid in nine postseason innings, as he's allowed just three runs and seven hits. Hendricks also has a 1.23 ERA at home and it's where only two of his six losses took place. Add in the fact the Cubs are tearing the cover off the baseball right now and there's good reason to like Chicago in this spot.
However, Kershaw is still Kershaw, probably the best pitcher in baseball. Kershaw had seven scoreless innings and gave up just two hits in game two against the Cubs in Wrigley. Also, Kershaw has allowed just 10 earned runs in his last 44.1 innings of work. I'm not sure there's another pitcher you would want on the hill in a must win game other than Kershaw, postseason jokes aside.
I'm not betting against Kershaw. It's that simple. I expect us to see the two greatest words in sports Sunday night. Game seven.
