Bellator 110: Jackson Vs. M'Pumbu
February 28, 2014
TV: Main card starts at 8:00PM ET on Spike
Bellator kicks off season 10 with there first event of 2014 with Quinton "Rampage" Jackson headling the main event. Bellator 110 will feature the opening round of the light heavyweight and featherweight tournament. The two winners of the main and co-main will face off for the light heavyweight finals. The four winners of the featherweight fights will also face off for the semi-finals, i'm expecting the finals to be Diego Nunes and Goiti Yamauchi. The 6 preliminary cards will be available on spike.com and the main card will start at 8PM ET on Spike TV. A possible light heavyweight tournament finals between Rampage and King Mo could be in the works but they'll have to get through there respective opponents first. I will break down the fights on the main card and give you my predictions and best bets.

Quinton "Rampage" Jackson (33-11) Vs. Christian M'Pumbu (18-5-1)
This will be Jackson's second bellator fight and in his way will be the former Bellator light heavyweight champ, Christian M'Pumbu. Jackson is coming off a victory in his bellator debut where he knocked out former UFC'er Joey Beltran, while M'Pumbu is coming off two consecutive losses and is looking to get back in the win column. Quinton Jackson comes in as the favourite at -450 and M'Pumbu the underdog at +360, even though Jackson might be closing in on the end of his MMA career, I believe he's still got a lot fight in him and I think he's going to prove that in this matchup. At -450, Jackson is the biggest favourite on the card and rightfully so, as he has fought the best of the best in the UFC and Pride and M'Pumbu just isn't on the same level as Jackson. I like Jackson in this matchup and I believe he can get it done within the distance, it wouldn't surpise me if he gets a knockout in the first or second round. You can find a prop bet of Jackson within the distance at +160 if you're not inclined to lay over 4 to 1 on Jackson.
Quinton Jackson -450
Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal (11-3-1) Vs. Mikhail Zayats (22-7)
In the second leg of the light heavyweigh bracket we have "King Mo" facing off against Sambo champ Mikhail Zayats. Lawal is coming off a loss in a closely contested rematch against Emanuel Newton, and is now trying to get back on track with a win here to secure a spot in the light heavyweight tournament finals. Zayats will be making his 5th appearance on bellator, so far going 3-1, with two of his wins coming against former UFC'ers Aaron Rosa and Renato "Babalu" Sobral. King Mo comes in the favourite at -240 and Zayats the underdog at +200, I feel that this fight will be a lot closer than the line might have you think, with that there's some value with Zayats at +200. In my opinion this fight is more of a pick'em, but I would lean towards King Mo eeking out a decision. The over 2.5 rounds at -150 might be a better bet or if you're feeling frisky you can get a prop bet of Zayats winning via decision at +520. I don't really trust either fighter so this would be a non-play for me.
Over 2.5 Rounds at -150
Diego Nunes (18-5) Vs. Matt Bessette (12-4)
A featherweight quarterfinals matchup of Diego Nunes and Matt Bessette should be a fun one. Nunes, a WEC veteran, also has six UFC bouts under his belt, going 3-3 in the big club. Bessette, will be fighting in his home state and is riding a four fight win streak, the only trouble for Bessette is that he has never faced an opponent like Diego Nunes and this fight will probably be the biggest fight of his career. Nunes comes in the favourite at -420 and Bessette the underdog at +335, the line continues to move up for Nunes, who rightfully so is the favourite. I think Bessette is durable enough to take this fight all the way to the end, but the real question is does he have enough to beat Nunes. I don't believe so and I think Nunes' experience will show in this matchup as he gets back in the win column with a victory here.
Diego Nunes -420
Goiti Yamauchi (16-1) Vs. Will Martinez (8-2-1)
Another featherweight quarterfinal matchup as Goiti Yamauchi takes on Will Martinez as both fighters look to stay undefeated in Bellator. Both fighters have looked impressive in Bellator, finishing all of their fights in the first round. Yamauchi comes in the favourite at -420 and Martinez the underdog at +335, I really like Yamauchi in this matchup and I wouldn't be surprised if he finishes Martinez in the first round. Yamauchi had trouble cutting to 145 in his last bout and subsequently made his last fight a catchweight bout. This time around Yamauchi has made weight and I see him putting on another great performance. I would suggest playing Yamauchi in a parlay.
Goiti Yamauchi -420
Mike Richman (16-3) Vs. Desmond Green (9-2)
Two more featherweights looking to move on to the semi-finals of the tournament face off as Mike Richman takes on Desmond Green. Both fighters are coming off victories and look to gain some momentum and make a push for the featherweight tournament final. Mike Richman comes in as the favourite at -275 and Green the underdog at +235, Green looks to be the greener fighter (no pun intended) as he is only 24 and has gone 1-1 in Bellator thus far. Mike Richman on the otherhand will be making his 8th Bellator appearance going 5-2 and stopping Akop Stepanyan in the first round in his last fight. I like Richman in this matchup, but I don't think he's going to run right through Green, I see Green giving him a good fight and having some good moments in the match as well.
Mike Richman -275
