Glover Teixeira and Ovince Saint Preux fight Saturday night in Nashville at UFC Fight Night.
Glover Teixeira enters this fight with a 22-4 record and is winning 64 percent of his fights by knockout. Teixeira has split his last four fights and is coming off an October loss against Phil Davis. Teixeira is averaging 4.15 significant strikes per minute with an accuracy percentage of 41.2 percent. Teixeira is averaging 2.32 takedowns per minute with an accuracy percentage of 50 percent. Teixeira is starting to show his age at 35 years old, as he was simply outclassed by Davis and Jon Jones in back-to-back fights. However, Teixeira still has the power on his side and is capable of taking over a fight due to his high volume of strikes. Still, it’s been a couple of years since Glover has looked good. This will be Teixeira’s first time fighting in Tennessee.
USA TODAY Sports
Ovince Saint Preux enters this fight with a 18-6 record and is winning 56 percent of his fights by knockout. Saint Preux has won five of his last six fights and is coming off a April win over Patrick Cummins. OSP is averaging 2.63 significant strikes per minute with an accuracy percentage of 50.9 percent. OSP is averaging 1.7 takedowns with an accuracy percentage of 60.8 percent. OSP has been on a roll as of late, which includes winning his last two fights in the first round, including a victory over Maurício Rua in the first 30 seconds. OSP has the power and strength to end a fight at any time and is defending takedowns at a quality 66 percent. This will be the fifth time Saint Preux fights in Tennessee, the state he fights out of and went to school.
It’s hard to trust Teixeira in this fight with his form being the way it is right now. OSP is in far better form, is younger and is fighting in Nashville, a place where he’s extremely comfortable and is 4-0 during his career.
Look for Saint Preux to win this bout.
