Nicolas Dalby and Darren Till fight Saturday night at UFC Fight Night 76 at the 3Arena.
Nicolas Dalby enters this fight with a 14-0 record and has won 50 percent of his fights by decision. This is Dalby’s second fight of 2015, and he’s coming off a May win over Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos. Dalby is averaging 2.73 significant strikes per minute with an accuracy percentage of 29.5 percent. Dalby is averaging six takedowns with an accuracy percentage of 60 percent. Dalby has made his name over the years in Denmark and is one of the top fighters in Europe. Dalby is a balanced fighter with a karate background and has proven he can be very successful with takedowns. The concern that I have with Dalby is that six of his last nine fights have gone the distance, so he doesn’t always know when to finish an opponent. This will be Dalby’s first career fight in Ireland.
USA TODAY Sports
Darren Till enters this fight with a 13-0 record and has won 69 percent of his fights by knockout. This is Till’s third fight of 2015, and he’s coming off a May win over Wendell de Oliveira Marques. Till is averaging 3.78 significant strikes per minute with an accuracy percentage of 60.9 percent. Till is averaging zero takedowns with an accuracy percentage of zero percent. Till is a strong striker with obvious knockout power and he doesn’t waste much time ending a bout when given the chance. Till also has two submission victories under his belt and is defending 100 percent of his takedowns. The concern I have with Till is that this is clearly a step up in competition and he’s fighting a far more experienced fighter who is eight years older than him.
This should end up being a great fight between two fighters who have yet to experience a loss. Till also has a slight advantage due to his ability to end a fight with one or two strikes.
However, Dalby is the more experienced fighter, more balanced and should be able to outsmart the 22-year-old. I like Dalby to win this fight.
